Kokoda Footsteps Trekking & Tours is a locally managed tourism company at the gateway to the Kokoda Track. The company consists of experienced local guides and porters, some with 100-150 treks, offering insights into the 1942 Kokoda Campaign history. Their mission is to promote Koiari culture and create employment opportunities for local communities.

Our Team

  • Guides, porters & security personnel (ages 25-45) are always on standby.

  • Trained in safety, deterrence, and hospitality to ensure a secure and enjoyable trekking experience.

  • Committed to upholding the company’s reputation and cultural values.

Communication & Safety

  • Guides and porters speak English, Tok-Pisin, Motu, and local languages.

  • Emergency communication equipment includes:

    • Satellite phone (Motorola Iridium)

    • Two-way radio system connected to company base and Kokoda Track Authority (KTA).

Operations & Management

  • Guides, porters, and security teams report to the Operations Manager.

  • A tourism consultant assists with management and operations to maintain high standards.
